Founded in 1953, Farmdale Creamery is one of the largest producers of sour cream on the West Coast, primarily serving food manufacturing, food service distribution, and grocery customers. Farmdale offers a wide range of unique sour cream styles, including Mexican and Central American styles, as well as natural, reduced fat, non-fat, and imitation alternatives, in addition to buttermilk and yogurt products. The Company also distributes a wide variety of cheeses in blocks and shreds. Since its founding over 70 years ago, the Company has established a reputation for the consistent delivery of fresh, high quality, and great tasting products with high touch service to match. Farmdale operates out of a single plant in San Bernardino, California.

Sky Island purchased Farmdale from the second generation of the founding families who remain at the helm of the Company today.

“Having built Farmdale from the ground up over two generations and the course of 70 years, there was a lot of pride and a deep sense of legacy tied up in the Company which made the decision to bring on outside capital challenging. It was critical to find a partner who valued the relationships with our customers and employees that had been developed over decades. We wanted to be sure those relationships would continue to thrive going forward. When we first met with Sky Island, we felt an immediate cultural fit. They listened to us and respected our values. They came to every meeting enthusiastic and were knowledgeable about the business and industry. Most importantly, we shared a vision for Farmdale’s future that built on the Company’s foundational values. The Sky Island team’s engagement and collaborative approach to management gave us confidence and excitement about partnership. With their expertise and support, we expect to accomplish great things together in the years to come.”
